Cashmere, the perfect travel companion

Cashmere the perfect travel companion | Cashmere joggers and sweater from The White Company

I went on a little adventure recently, Brooklyn to be precise. It was a mini-break – just me and my husband, crucially without our children. We love them dearly of course but its nice to have time away as a couple.

New York is beautiful at this time of year as the leaves begin to fall, there is a chill in the air and the light is glorious. With no agenda other than to explore a new part of the city, a practical yet stylish wardrobe is a must.

When I prepare for a trip and especially for a city break, I pack lightweight, multitasking clothes that can be layered in a neutral colour palette. A couple of pieces of cashmere and flats always make the cut too.

We were extremely fortunate to travel business class so the flight was much more comfortable than usual. However, my top tip for flying in complete comfort and luxury on long haul flights is to change into loungewear as soon as the seatbelt sign is off.

You cannot go far wrong with a luxe pair of joggers, I wore this cotton and cashmere pair kindly gifted to me by The White Company. It can be chilly on planes so light layers are always welcome, I also never travel without a cashmere scarf and socks if I remember to sneak a pair in my hand luggage!

Everyday luxury

Cashmere is such a wonderfully luxurious soft yarn, never itchy and always lightweight makes it perfect for layering when the weather is changeable. Yes, it needs a bit of TLC and it isn’t a budget option but chose a classic style and you will love it forever. I promise.

The White Company with whom I have collaborated on this post is a great destination for cashmere and with Christmas just on the horizon why not gently nudge your loved ones in the right direction?

If like me, you are head over heels in love with cashmere, you can extend the pleasure of this gorgeous fabric to your home with a range of cashmere blankets, throws and a luxurious fragrance collection from The White Company.

But I digress, for my Brooklyn trip I packed a tonal wardrobe in shades of grey, black, white and the odd dash of nude including this sweater which I wore, its simple style makes it a staple in any wardrobe.

The main advantage of packing a capsule wardrobe that you can mix and match is that:

A- you can travel light, I am a carryon only girl and B – it’s really easy to upgrade your outfit for dinner or drinks with a quick change of shoes and jewellery.

Our days in Brooklyn were over far too quickly but I’m so glad we were able to escape everyday life for a few days. Have you been on any city breaks recently? What’s your travel must have and are you a fellow cashmere devotee?

Antonia x

Great tips on travelling light Antonia! I’m definitely a fan of cashmere and it’s actually what I want to invest more in this year. Looks like you had a lovely time in New York xx
