Spring has been a long time coming in the Northern Hemisphere this year but now that the mercury has finally risen and peonies are on their way – happy dance! – I have ditched the winter coat and jumped into what is fast becoming my spring uniform. It’s one of those simple outfits that came together with little effort but a great deal of impact.
The simplest formulas work best
I’m keeping things simple because I’ve got little time to fuss in the mornings, I’m guessing you are strapped for time too, life’s just so full all the time. This look won’t take a moment and I bet you have 90% of what you need in your wardrobe already.
The whole outfit is built on this printed midi skirt from Mango which could potentially be quite difficult to wear but add a few everyday classics and you’re on your way.
Whilst we are on the subject of pleated skirts, I’m going to be very frank with you now because we are friends and I can be honest so here it goes: I have really struggled with the whole midi skirt and pumps combo. I have always loved the look but felt that I kept missing the mark.
I’ve since learnt that the problem was finding pumps to flatter the legs to avoid feeling frumpy. For me this means Converse, I feel comfortable in them and they are cut low enough at the front to elongate my very short legs.
Now I’m fully committed to the look, late to the party but who cares?
I complete the look with a white t-shirt and denim jacket. Oh! and don’t forget to add a straw bag for good measure. White tulips optional!
