3 Simple Style Updates You'll Love

Wouldn’t it be brilliant to overhaul your wardrobe every season? Sadly, for most of us it just isn’t financially viable. Aside from the financial implications of updating your wardrobe, there’s also that time in between when the weather isn’t playing ball. You are bored to death of your clothes yet you aren’t quite ready to go shopping.

If any of this sounds vaguely familiar then I have 3 simple style updates tucked up my sleeve that you’ll love and will bring a little bit of newness into your life with minimum effort.

Accessories are the simplest way to inject some new season magic into your wardrobe without making big changes or committing to a new look and for me, the handbag is king.

My biggest transeasonal spend (and it was tiny) went on the Chanel-esque shoulder bag from Zara featured in this post. I wasn’t looking for it but it found me in Madrid airport and it was love at first sight. I wear a lot of navy with white tops so it works well with my existing wardrobe. It’s fresh, affordable and the classic design means I’ll use it for years to come.

If you want to read up on key arm candy trends for SS18 read this post by Who What Wear. Bucket bags are a thing this year and there are straw bags and baskets everywhere. My advice is don’t wait until high summer to buy or wear yours as there will be nothing left. Personally I think straw bags look really cool worn when you are not actually on holiday. This straw tote from Topshop has stolen my heart.

Statement Earrings

If you aren’t wearing the kind of statement earrings that would make Pat Butcher envious, then what are you waiting for girlfriend? Only kidding of course but I promise you that a pair of crazy dangly earrings will make even the dullest t-shirt and jeans look amazing.

Mango should be your first stop for inexpensive show-stopping earrings, I raved about them last year in this post and their collection is even stronger this year. & Other StoriesH&M, Zara and Stradivarius are good alternatives too.

Fragrance

3 Simple Style Updates You'll Love

Granted – this is not the most obvious style update but you can guarantee it will go with everything! Fragrance is so evocative, a spritz of your favourite perfume can transport you to the most fabulous places and spring is a great time to consider switching your perfume for something lighter.

I can’t stop thinking about beach side holidays and Tory Burch’s Bel Azur takes me right where I want to be – by the sea, with a cocktail in my hand and the sun warming my bones. The blend of neroli, peony and cedarwood is heavenly.

So there you have it, three easy style updates to ease yourself into the new season.
