I’m going to let you into a little secret, I’ve never been one for jewellery. Unbelievable, right? The truth is that I never wore much jewellery because I was always a bit afraid of it.
Afraid of overdoing it i.e. wearing too much at once. Scared of investing, then going off whatever I might have just bought! Intimidated by price tags and sales assistants, however, I am happy to report that my jewellery phobia has subsided significantly.
Tired of buying costume jewellery and silver and gold-plated pieces from the high street that tarnish so easily, I finally came to the conclusion that it was worth investing here and there.
London Road
This post showcases London Road, a jewellery brand I discovered recently. Siblings Suzanne and Ed head up their team of craftsmen and women from their South London studio. Their collections are on trend, highly wearable and with a distinct London flavour. Best of all, London Road sits comfortably within the affordable luxury bracket at the heart of Tinker Tailor.
My rules for investing are quite simple: affordability and style. I’m looking for pieces that won’t break the bank in styles that will stand the test of time.
I was lucky enough to borrow the Starry Night collection for this post which starts at a very reasonable £60. I love star prints and motifs and although they are very on trend at the moment they are also classic, up there with Bretons stripes and leopard print. You can’t go wrong, stars always look chic.
Daytime and evening glamour
I created two looks for this post, a simple daytime look which I twinned with stunning silver jewellery and an evening look featuring the most beautiful rose cut diamonds set in a star pendant.
Both outfits are so easy to recreate, who doesn’t have a crisp white shirt and black trousers in their wardrobe? My velvet jumpsuit is a little gem I found on the high street recently that will see you effortlessly through the party season.
Dressing using simple formulas is great, my favourite way to dress in fact, but it’s the details which elevate your average white shirt or LBD to an outfit that gets people’s attention.
The Starry Night collection is perfect for every occasion with pieces in either yellow gold or silver to suit your taste and budget. I also love that you can buy into the collection and build it up over time… Did I tell you Christmas is coming?
How about you? I’d love to hear your thoughts on jewellery.
