A slightly unusual post for me as I don’t tend to write about children’s clothes very often but this collaboration between Louise Wilkinson and Marks and Spencer is too good to ignore.
I enlisted Maia’s help to create this post because she is the little fashionista of the household. She can usually be found rocking athleisure and cartwheeling around the place. She’s into dance and gymnastics and is much more up to date with the latest trends than I am. Maia dreams of being old enough to shop in Topshop and knows exactly what she wants to wear at all times *Inserts eye rolling emoji here*
The challenge of shopping for slightly older children
Dressing slightly older children poses challenges that I hadn’t anticipated back when I was dressing my three in co-ordinating outfits. With one teen and two tweens in the house I feel like we are in the no man’s land of fashion. Too grown up for cute clothes but most definitely not old enough for the Topshop and River Island garb they aspire to. Thankfully we haven’t been invited to any weddings this summer so I can save myself that particular headache but if we were, I’d definitely be popping into Marks and Spencer.
Pastels shades and romantic prints
I’m a little bit obsessed with the printed cotton shift dress M&S sent us because it’s stylish and looks grown up but is completely age appropriate for a 9 year old which keeps us both happy. The cheerful print by Louise Wilkinson transports me to warmer climes and has me dreaming of glamorous holidays in Capri (sans enfants of course). I’m completely sold on this beautiful range of pastel coloured clothes for kids and outraged that it doesn’t come in adult sizes!
The pleated sleeve detail is contemporary and chic, it looked great with white sandals but it would look equally good with a pair of laceless trainers. I never get tired of this classic French look for kids.
I would seriously wear this dress if it was available in my size and I’d style it the same way! Maia gave it a big thumbs up, I think she felt suitably glam and she enjoyed being part of the action for a change.
Do your children like dressing up? Do you have any kids’ clothing dilemmas at the moment? Drop me a line and let me know!

Gorgeous!! Love those yellow pumps!
If ever you need a more mature model …
Don’t worry, you are on speed dial already! xxx
That dress is totally gorgeous, the print and the colours are just beautiful. I always struggle trying to find nice clothes for my bosy. Boys clothes are way too boring, wish there were better designs out there for them like there are for girls.
M&S have done a great job but I think boys clothes are getting better, I love Zara for boys! Thank you for reading the post! x
