Summer Brights

Summer Brights

Let’s talk about colour, specifically bright colours which aren’t my thing per se. I tend to play it safe most of the time with a neutral uniform and the odd pop of colour but the sun comes out and I feel like injecting a bit of life to my wardrobe with a dose of colour. Only this time I took a huge leap out of my comfort zone when I invested in this yellow dress from M&S.

Wear colour with confidence

It caught my eye while I was shopping for a few basics before a photoshoot. I walked away reasoning that I didn’t ‘need’ it but promptly returned to it a couple of weeks later and boy am I glad I did! If you are still thinking about an item of clothing/ shoes/ handbag long after you have left the shop it means you really love it and should probably go back and buy it. It’s my top tip for mindful shopping.

Anyway, I’ve worn it several times since I bought and lapped up the lovely comments I have received. Quite a few people have said that they don’t suit yellow, I don’t think I do particularly but I do think it’s about having the confidence to carry it off. All I can say is try it on if you like the look of it and then decide.

I have noticed that dressing like a ball of sunshine genuinely puts a smile on my face and I feel very happy in this dress. The cut is flattering, it’s floaty and the fabric is gorgeous, it merits the £49 price tag. I genuinely feel that it is much better quality than something you would buy in Zara for example.

Keep those Boho vibes alive

Styling wise, I like to wear it with these tan Superdry heels (also seen here) and a straw basket or clutch for that boho look. I leave the ties around the neck undone because it looks more relaxed and flashing a bit of flesh is both attractive (ooh la la!) and elongates my short neck. If you feel like you want a bit more definition around the waist simply add a belt and off you go!

Just as a side note M&S have knocked it out of the park with their range of summer dresses this year, I urge you to pop in a try some on! You can shop my picks at the bottom of this post.
