It’s no secret that summer is my favourite season and there’s nothing I like to do more on a long summer weekend than hit the coast. One of my favourite places to visit is Whitsable, the call of the sea, pretty pastel houses and delicious oysters is hard to resist.
Happiness is… oysters and champagne by the sea!
I recently pledged to do the things that make me happy more often and since few things make me happier than being by the sea, a visit to this little gem along the Kent coast is always guaranteed to put a smile on my face. The vibe is most definitely laid back and whenever I visit I follow the same itinerary – a walk along the seafront, a few drinks in the pub and some local oysters as the sun goes down. I know oysters aren’t to everyone’s taste so I’ll let you have fish and chips instead if you insist!
Chic and relaxed summer style for visits to the coast
Knowing what to wear is not too much of a challenge on these occasions, give me something chic, casual and comfortable that I can layer up should the weather take a turn for the worse and I’m happy.
On my latest trip to Whitstable I wore a great cargo style jumpsuit from Superdry that drapes beautifully. It has fully adjustable straps and a drawstring to nip yourself in at the waist which is really flattering. My trusty denim jacket provides a welcome cover up when the sea breeze becomes a bit too chilly.
My husband is the big Superdry fan in our house, I usually just stock up t-shirts and flip flops for our summer holiday but I delved a little deeper and I’ve been really happy with these Blake leather sandals which have a comfortable wooden block heel. I like to embrace my inner boho during the summer months, perhaps it’s my Mediterranean roots… the combination of tan leather and wooden heel walk the fine line between smart and boho really well. I’ve enjoyed styling them with my ancient wooden bangles bought on holiday many years ago.
Talking of accessories, I’m over the moon with this tasslled saddle bag (those boho vibes again) – it reminds me of something Kate Moss would wear which is just fine by me! I wasn’t quite sure how much use I would get out of it before it arrived but it’s a great size. Compact yet roomy, I can squeeze all my essentials in comfortably without fear of something falling out and believe me that is an issue for me, I lost 3 debit cards in a month recently!
So that’s my perfect summer evening sorted, how do you spend yours? I’d love to know.
