One Dress Three Ways

Kira Linen Jacket - One dress three ways

Here’s a post I worked on with Joules on how to wear one dress three ways, showing you how to get the most out of your new purchase. I hope you enjoy it!

Every wardrobe needs a few classic pieces: a blazer, a white shirt, a good clutch… you get idea. In addition the odd hero piece like the all weather dress goes a long way, I’m referring to those items of clothing that are fit for any number of occasions and that will take you straight from the school run to lunch with your girlfriends. For the purpose of this post I experimented with the Sammy denim dress, I’ll show how I wore this dress three ways with the help of a few accessories. Here’s how I did it.

School run Mum

The Sammy is a great little number. You might think it is a bit plain but here lies its strength as you can easily add or or take away accessories and transform the overall look.

Investing in a dress like this is a great stepping stone towards creating a capsule wardrobe. It will save you a hell of a lot of time and will quickly pay for itself in terms of cost per wear – always think about the fashionomics!

This dress is designed to be flattering, it’s nipped in at the waist giving you a nice hourglass shape and it has generous pockets, such a bonus!

The denim has plenty of stretch which I’m so grateful for when I’m jumping in and out of the car and rushing to the school gates with armfuls of kitbags and school projects. Throwing this on with a pair of opaque tights in the mornings is so easy and I know that I can turn to it and look put together without too much effort. Then a trusty waterproof coat, lightweight for driving but 100% shower proof to keep me dry during those pesky spring showers.

I often have meetings to go to after the school run so not having to get changed again is a must. Here I added a good quality linen blazer, you can’t have enough of these in my opinion. Blazers are an instant pick me up for any outfit, so with a very quick change of outerwear and a statement necklace I’m all set for work and business ready. Not forgetting a good tote bag that fits all my essentials in it as well as my laptop.

Downtime

This is my favourite part, the bit where I can put all of the day’s stresses behind me and finally unwind over good food and a crisp glass of wine with friends. A quick change of shoes, different jewellery, a pretty clutch and this practical little dress wins again. Cheers!

Tell me, what are the hero pieces in your wardrobe?
