I cannot imagine my life without Instagram. It’s an integral part of my job, it’s where my friends hangout and also where I find inspiration for pretty much anything from new work projects to home decor and tasty cocktail recipes.
Creating beautiful images and sharing them on my grid occupies a lot of my time and you can find my tips for taking better Instagram photos here and my top editing tips here but I digress. My relationship with the platform is subject to bouts of negativity when I engage in the comparison game which is never a good idea but there are so many upsides that it’s worth the odd Insta freak-out.
One of the most notable benefits I get from Instagram is the constant stream of inspiration, there are a handful of accounts that I check pretty much every day because they are so beautiful and make me want to do better. It’s probably worth pointing out here that I like my Instagram beautiful and well curated, good light and good composition make me happy and want to keep coming back for more. I know that people use it for different things and in different ways but this is my over son all choice, I enjoy aesthetically pleasing images most of all and these 5 Instagram accounts do that for me, they it a smile on my face and encourage me to work harder to create beautiful content.
Michelle Blanchard @mich.elle.imagery
What a can I say about Michelle? She is a ‘self-confessed flaylay enthusiast and content creator fuelled by coffee and a constant need to create’. I love Michelle’s story telling and I enjoy getting little glimpses of her life in Canada, she always takes the time to reach out and write meaningful messages, she is an all-round lively person. Her feed is elegant and serene, follow her now I predict that Michelle is going to be huge!
Kerry Villers @kerryvillers
Formally known as Noah and the Girls Kerry shares little vignettes from her life with three children, namely Noah and two girls, Charlie and Elodie. Kerry’s feed is all muted tones and calm, perfectly constructed snippets of family life with hilarious captions where you get a sense of what family life is really like. Kerry has a terrific sense of humour and is an all round gorgeous human being. We haven’t met in real life yet but I feel very connected to her and I think that is a huge part of her appeal. Kerry blogs at www.noahandthegirls.com and co-hosts the HomeEtc linky.
Amanda Start @onlinestylist
Regular readers of this blog will know that Amanda is my idol, she makes blogging look so effortless and her career is impressive. I will always grateful to her for demystifying the blogging world for me at this blogging workshop that I attended at Hero about a year ago. My life has been full of new opportunities sincere then and I will always be grateful to both The Online Stylist and Hero for setting me on the right path. Anyway, back to Instagram and you should definitely follow @onlinestylist if you are a fan of coffee, cashmere and white tulips her style is flawless.
Dominique @allthatisshe
This is a recent discovery, I know, where have I been all this time? Dominique is one of those Instagram sensations that don’t come by very often these days but her content is excellent so it’s no surprise that she is an Insta superstar with a following standing at over 130k followers. The strength of her storytelling qualities make her feed compelling, it’s raw and quirky and very beautiful. Dominique shares free e-courses on her blog www.allthatisshe.com
Olivia Nicole Silk @lustliving
I connected with Olivia through a blogging event and I was immediately drawn to her seemingly effortless style. I recognised her bedroom from Pinterest, I still can’t believe a real person sleeps in there! Seriously, she has the most beautiful home. She loves gold, greys and blush tones, I’m in home-style heaven when I scroll through her feed and I’m so thrilled to see her grow and collaborate with awesome brands like Made.com who recently featured her in their blog.
So that’s my top 5 – who is at the top of your list?

Ooh so Michelle is the only one of these that wasn’t already on my radar, I totally agree that ALL are just beautiful!! I’m in awe though with your tips post, I don’t think I’ll ever have the inclination to be so organised and plan everything and take all the photos :/ It is without a doubt my favourite social media platform though and it’s lovely to connect with people (such as you!) through it Xxx
I’m not half as organised as I’d like to be and I do miss the spontaneous approach I once had to Instagram. I also completely agree, the best thing Instagram has given me is new friends like you! xxx
