3 British Brands to Consider for Mother’s Day

3 British Brands to Consider for Mother's Day

Mother’s Day gifts can be a bit tricky, I don’t expect lavish gifts nor do I expect to receive them and I can always do without cheesy tat from Clinton Cards – I’m looking at you Tatty Teddy. I am simply happy with breakfast in bed and a homemade card but you know, it’s also nice to be spoilt from time to time. Flowers and chocolates are always welcome but I have chosen a few thoughful gifts from three British brands that would put a smile on anyone’s face. So if your children or your other half need some inspiration for Mother’s Day send them this way!

Elizabeth Scarlett is the eponymous homeware brand of  London based designer Elizabeth Scarlett Elsey. Her hand painted designs are evocative of blue skies and faraway shores, dappled light and the warm sun on your back. I have a couple of pieces from her collection including the now Insta-famous Ananas mauve velvet pouch – that’s pink pineapples to you and me – and the chambray bucket bag.

The pouch is really good value as it can double up as a clutch bag, I think this is especially true of the indigo and cloud colourway. The Palmier bucket bag is currently on a short break in Dubai with me and it’s a great daytime companion.

Elizabeth Scarlett also produces beautiful cushions and bedding alongside pretty scented candles to complement the range with names like Ananas, Passion flower and Pineapple they sound good enough to eat. Can someone book that Caribbean holiday now please!

I fell down one of those Instagram rabbit holes recently and found The Little House of Hygge, an independent online store specialising in all things hygge. Need I say more? You can buy traditional homeware like blankets and baskets as well as their Let’s Hygge boxes which make the perfect Monther’s Day gift. You can buy a single box or a subscription, it’s entirely up to you.

The packaging is stylish in its minimalism and the boxes smell wonderful even before they’ve been opened. They are full of high quality treats suitable for the best hygge-loving women out there. They are also just the thing when you don’t know what to buy, there are so many lovely bits and pieces in there that it would be impossible not to find something to love.

Monogramming is always a great idea, a monogrammed gift makes it look like you tried very hard and thought about the person carefully (even if you didn’t), it elevates simple gifts into something special. HB London are great at this, a British brand with impressive credentials. You might recognise their personlaised phone cases from one of Victoria Beckham’s selfies. These are fantastic by the way, I bought a marble effect case, the tough version because I am constantly dropping my phone and it is brilliant. Worth every penny.

HB London specialise luxury lifestyle accessories, their monogrammed leather clutch bags are gorgeous and should last a lifestime, a matching personlaised keyring would be really sweet if you want to spoil someone.

I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed for a nice parcel on the 26th of March. What are you buying or hoping to receive for Mother’s Day?
