Claire is a self-confessed interiors junkie, she works for an interior design company and she has impeccable taste which makes her an expert in my eyes. Have look at her latest home tour here if you don’t believe me. She has a knack for spotting new trends and successfully incorporating them into her elegant home to create a style that is fresh yet timeless and elegant. Claire talked me through some of the key looks we’ll be seeing in the coming months. I hope you enjoy it as much I did!
Greenery
Pantone named their colour of the year ‘Greenery’ and whilst it’s a fabulous look, decorating with green is a bold move for those of us who like to sit on the soft grey Farrow and Ball fence. However, you can incorporate pops of green throughout your home with plants and foliage, Claire predicts that bringing the outdoors in will be a big trend in 2017. Erica Davies from The-Edited has done an amazing job of incorporating the essence of this look into her newly renovated living room, you must take a look!
‘We’ve already seen cacti and succulents become massively popular in people’s homes and now I think it is the turn of the larger houseplant. I am sure blogger and Instagrammer favourite the fiddle leaf fig will stick around, but expect to see more Monstera, rubber plans, indoor palms and ficus trees blessing your interior Pinterest boards – and don’t be afraid to go faux – there are great faux plants available now and they are not only great value for money, but won’t die if you forget to water them!’
Metals
I almost had a heart attack when I read (here) that copper and rose gold were on their way out but thankfully Claire was able to reassure me.
‘Don’t panic, metals are sure to stick around but make sure you are going for good quality metals that don’t look cheap and tacky (copper seems to have been recklessly imitated and sadly not always to good effect). I think brass will be the king of metals this year. Mix your metals to get a stylish look that will last the years’
You heard it here first.
Pink
Pink seems to have seeped into every corner of my life since it was proclaimed Pantone colour of 2016, it’s everywhere from fashion to homeware and everything in between.
‘This colour isn’t going anywhere soon’ says Claire, ‘it is a hot colour in fashion this year and decor tends to follow catwalk trends. Expect to continue to see soft muted pinks in plush fabrics such as velvet, linen and silk – texture will be big in 2017 and these fabrics will take centre stage’
Herringbone
‘Herringbone patterns are having a bit of a moment and can be seen in everything from parquet flooring, tiling and even table tops. If you are still keen on metro tiles, lay them in a herringbone pattern to keep them up to date and feeling fresh’

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the edit. Love it. Wanted metal and marble side and coffee tables, but affordable. Loving the sidetable (white top is lovely ) plus luxe lamps. Must check dimensions. Our ceilings are super high so need large lamps to play with scale. We have a gorgeous Sofa.com sofa in pigeon herringbone fabric that we bought 4 years ago – still looks like new. Bang on trend 🙂
Is the marble top table in your Next home piece part of their Spring collection??? Total lust. Shannah x
Is there anything more joyous than sourcing new interiors for your home? I’d love to see what you’ve been up to in your home on the forthcoming blog maybe? :0) So glad you enjoyed the edit – I think I’m going to go for the M&S marble table….
I am instantly filled with house envy reading this and wish that we could redo every room in our home. Love the metals and pink theme, especially the coffee table. Claire x
Oh me too! The Green Eyed Girl’s home is beautiful and I wish we had the budget to make our home as Pinterest friendly! Thanks so much for taking a moment to read the blog. have a great weekend!
I DO love that pink sofa, so many bits and pieces I’d love for our home here. Although I’m always last to the trends, it took me FOREVER to get on board with copper and now I just love it Xx
We’re like kids in a sweetshop aren’t we? Claire has the best taste but I’m really enjoying your DIY journey so much! xxx
