New Beginnings

Best Nine of Instagram 2016

Happy 2017 to you! I wasn’t planning to do a new year roundup style post but here I am clicking away in the hope that putting a few ideas down might help me to organise my thoughts and formulate a bit of a plan. I won’t harp on about how bad 2016 was because we all know how awful the news has been but for me personally, it was an interesting year of personal growth and self-discovery.

There have been many challenges particularly in the parenting department. Navigating the pre-teen years is so much harder than I anticipated and to be completely honest with you I often feel alone in the wilderness. The urge to do whatever it takes to take the pain of growing up away is sometimes overwhelming but it’s also important to let your children experience heartache so they become resilient individuals. It amazes me that after being a parent for almost 13 years I still find myself fumbling around in the dark without a clue. I’m not sure what I will do more of/ better/ differently in 2017 but I definitely want to focus more on my family and I’ll be making a conscious effort to be more present and mindful of the bigger picture, clichéd I know but so important.

Fitness is high on the agenda for 2017. It wasn’t so long ago that I was running half marathons on a fairly regular basis but something happened in the last year or so and I lost my mojo. Lifestyle and fitness go hand in hard for me so if I am exercising on a regular basis I’m quite clean living but if I stop exercising… Oh boy! the wheels come off and I don’t give a damn about what I shovel into my mouth. I miss the headspace that exercise gives you most of all so in a bid to feel better I will be taking my own advice and getting back into fitness as well as taking a month off from drinking alcohol. Wish me luck!

I have been really rubbish at being organised over the last 12 months and I’m so tired of it! I’ll give myself a pat on the back for ensuring the survival of the family by keeping things ticking over (just about) and for managing to achieve quite a few things professionally but I only ever seem to get there by the skin of my teeth and it’s something I want to change. I’ll be taking on The Online Stylist’s tips for blogging as a business  and spending a little bit of time on Sundays planning the week ahead including social media, family meals and grocery shopping.

Getting organised and keeping my workspace tidy!

I could go on and say that I also want to have a more balanced relationship with my iPhone and social media but that is a constant battle and one I’m frankly tired of having with myself. I need them both in order to grow my business so I will put my mild addiction into a box for now.

I’m really keen to hear from you, the lovely people who support me and take the time to read my blog, so don’t be shy and tell me about your plans and hopes for 2017!

Lots of love as always,

Antonia x

Happy New Year lovely! I think your realisation about your family is the same one I had about my friends – it’s all too easy to let life fly by and realise sometimes too late that it’s just going through the motions. Being present and focused is a great way to tackle it. I too want to concentrate on fitness/me – the same crew that ran our half marathon with work back in September have signed up for a 10k in March and I know that’s the motivation I need to try and get moving again. It’s not easy though but I have to remember how much happier things are when I’m feeling fit and healthy.

Can’t wait to see you soon Xx

Likewise lovely Lins! Do you think I could sign up to your 10K? I’m looking for a challenge that I can work towards. Let’s meet up ASAP! xxx
