Ok, so before we get drawn into the Black Friday shopping frenzy I thought we could have a little chat and set ourselves some ground rules so that we don’t end up with a lurex bobble hat, 5 faux fur clutch bags and a pair of wellies. You know how it is, you see all the discounts you go a bit nuts and the next day you are wondering what possessed you to buy such things. I should know, it happens to me all the time!
Shop Black Friday Like a Pro
Get organised and prepare – I know it’s boring but it will really help you to have a game plan. Think about what you want to buy and spend some time in the run up to Friday adding items to your virtual baskets or creating wish lists. When Friday arrives, simply enter the discount code and checkout. If you are actually hitting the shops make a list of what you want and plan which shops you will visit.
Do your homework – Most retailers are keeping their Black Friday offers under wraps but others have started discounting already so keep your eyes peeled and do your research. La Redoute is already offering a 40% off everything as part of their Black Friday promotion, Love My Soul 30% off their AW16 collection. Boden have a 30% discount and free returns starting today and I noticed H&M are offering 50% of knitwear this week. Also bear in mind that some retailers’ Black Friday ‘promotions’ will start from as early as Thursday and last until Sunday so check-in regularly with your favourite sites.
Plan shopping breaks – This sounds a bit extreme but you should definitely plan regular breaks during your shopping trip to help you stay on track and on budget. Take a few minutes away to reflect on what you have bought or are planning to buy, I guarantee you’ll think twice about a few purchases.
We are going to be in Menorca this Christmas so I really need to take my own advice and make some serious shopping plans. If you’ve got any Black Friday insider info or some shopping tips to share please do so in the comments box below.
Happy shopping!

Well that was a great post and I’m being organised already by checking out both my kid’s lists (both birthdays are at xmas) and checking discounts. Have you signed up to quidco? It’s an online discount site where you get money back after you buy? Check it out. Maybe? Ann xx (natural grace)
Hi Ann! No I haven’t but my friend uses it and swears by it, I’ll make sure I do it now, could do with all the help I can get this Christmas, my girls seem to think Santa’s money grows on trees! Thank you for taking the time to comment xxx
