The Coat Edit

Five Best Winter Coats

Like it or not, it’s coat season in the UK and one of my all time favourite items to buy and wear is a winter coat. I am not actually in the market for one this year, I already have more than I need but you never know, I could be tempted with so many seasonal offers around…

Theoretically speaking however, if I were to invest I’d keep an eye out for the following styles:

The Military Coat – Navy blue, gold details and masculine shapes mean that this particular style never goes out of fashion. It will always be a good investment, the catwalks and high street have been awash with them this season. Zara received this one in their most recent drop and I love the patches, also a big look right now.

The Pink Coat – There is no sign of this colour going anywhere soon, hailed as a new neutral a while back, I’m delighted to see it in this incarnation. I have admired this one from Whistles in the flesh and it’s not cheap but the quality and it’s snugability factor (is that even a word?) more than makes up for the price tag.

Checks, Tartan and Houndstooth Prints – These are springing up all over the place. The Gospel coat from Claudie Pierlot is ticking all my boxes and making it’s way to the top of my wish list but TU at Sainbury’s do something similar for a very reasonable £45!

Leopard Print – It’s everywhere and it’s fabulous, buy one of these and keep forever. I like to wear only one piece of leopard print at a time teamed with neutral colours and shapes to keep it chic. This coat will take you from the school run to glam night outs – get one now!

F+F at Tesco do a cheeky leopard print coat here for just £29

The Wrap Coat – This seems like a no nonsense sort of coat to me, just slip it on and tie firmly around your waist. I spotted a beautiful one in Ted Baker but M&S (seen here on Fashion Foie Gras) and ASOS have some great options for you to consider.
