Autumn Family Days

Autumn Picnic Basket

It’s half term for us this week and I’ll be doing my best to find things for my daughters and I to don’t include shopping (they love shopping) or going googly eyed in front of an iPad for hours on end. Simple things like a walk in the woods is no longer an attractive proposition to my 9, 10 and 12 year old girls but I can definitely coax them out without complaint on the promise of some pre-Halloween fun.

Kids Pumpkin Patch

This year we have decided to try something different, we are going to paint our pumpkins because the girls and I have been seduced by some gorgeous examples on Pinterest. We have already made a start so stay tuned for the big reveal.

Disclaimer: Please note that crafts are not really our thing so adjust your expectations accordingly to avoid disappointment! For perfect and beautiful examples take a look at my autumn Pinterest board here.

Autumn Picnic

I wore a neckwarmer from Buff Wear for this shoot and I was impressed by the quality, fleece lined and practical for cold days whilst also stylish and feminine. I’ll definitely be getting some wear out of it in the months ahead.

As for the rest of my outfit, well I’m wearing some of my favourite pieces starting with the breton because who doesn’t love a stripe? This one is from M&S and a steal at £8.50.

Autumn Picnic Hot Chocolate

Wearing: Buff Wear Neckwarmer, M&S Breton Top, H&M Leather Look Trousers (old), All Stars Converse

I’m holding out for a pair of real leather trousers but until then my leather ‘look’ friends are great. I would recommend you get a pair as they can be worn in so many ways, taking you seamlessly from day to night. Personally I love wearing them with a super soft grey or pale pink knit and some nice jewellery – effortless yet glam. If like me, you are thinking of adding the real thing to your Christmas list then I have heard good reviews of this pair by Baukjen.

The cape I bought several years ago and it was a worthwhile investment. I have worn it many times, to many different events and it always looks good. I have seen several alternatives on the hight street here and here and prices vary greatly so you will definitely find something to suit your budget.
