Another weekend is here and it feels like we are racing towards the festive season already but there is plenty to enjoy before we get into Christmas mode, so here are a few ideas to inspire your autumnal weekend.
Prepare for Halloween by visiting your local farmers’ market (or supermarket) and get yourself some pumpkins to scatter around the house. There is such a huge variety these days that you’ll even be able to match your pumpkins to your decor! If you don’t feel like carving pumpkins with your children this year (like me!) you can paint them instead. There are some great ideas to inspire you on Pinterest.
Listen to The Scummy Mummies podcast – I adore these two ladies. Not only are they hilarious but they have an ever more impressive list of guests on their fortnightly podcast. Funny, thought provoking and common sense parenting chat for imperfect parents – that’ll be me then!
Read How blogging helped refine my style choices by The Online Stylist – you don’t have to be a blogger to enjoy this post, it’s a great honest read about some of the questionable wardrobe choices we make. Amanda takes a look back at her style journey and how she found the key pieces that define her impressive style.
Cook leek, mushroom and Parmesan soup – I’m going to try this recipe by Georgina Hayden this weekend, there is nothing more comforting than a bowl of steaming hot soup and some crusty bread with lots of butter. Georgina has a beautiful Instagram feed and her book Stirring Slowly is a feast for the eyes, one for the Christmas list.
Buy cashmere – it’s getting cold out there and what could be more appealing than wrapping up in warm layers of soft cashmere. Every year I dream of a splurge at Brora which is way out of my budget but the high street has some good affordable options that are worth checking out. Zara (obviously) has some nice pieces and H&M – seen here on Alex from The Frugality – comes up trumps. If a jumper is a little bit of a stretch in the middle of the month, you could always opt for a scarf, I like this one from Cos.
What are your tips for the weekend? I’d love to know what you get up to, you can leave me a message in the comments box below!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
