It’s been a bit quiet over on the blog lately, I have been taking some time out to adjust to being back home and making the most of the last couple of weeks of the summer holidays with my children. In truth, I have really struggled to find that elusive work-life balance this summer which has left me feeling guilty a lot of the time. This is possibly the reason why I am sort of looking forward to the season ahead when the girls will be back at school and we can all return to some sort of routine. It sounds awful but when all is said and done, I am a creature of habit and routine helps me to keep the work-life balance scales in check. If anyone has any tips for me, I’d love to hear them!
Anyway, moving on to more pressing matters, khaki you say? It doesn’t sound very inspiring does it? It conjures up images of army fatigues and activewear for the elderly perhaps… but I promise you this is colour is going to be an outright winner this season, in fact any season. This colour will be your friend all year round, it is the ultimate transeasonal shade in my book- ok, ok I may be going a little overboard but you catch my drift, light enough for these late summer days but strong enough to carry you through to winter.
This trend has been slowly building over the summer and can been seen on two of my favourite bloggers Erica Davies from The Edited and on Alex Stedman from The Frugality. Luckily for us the high street is chock-a-block with fashion in this shade of green so you can take your pick! I’m a little bit in love with this pencil skirt from Zara.

These trousers from Topshop are pretty cool too. I’d quite like to pair them with an oxblood pair of brogues and my trusty leather biker jacket – have a look at Hush, they make the best in my opinion. It’s pricy but you will wear it for the rest of your life!

Then there’s the khaki jacket, it seems that there is one to suit everyone’s style. I personally cannot stop thinking about bomber jackets. I avoided them last season because I wore one to death in the 90’s but I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist this time round – recapturing my youth and all that – I rather like this one from Urban Outfitters.
